Packed with the best spa-quality hair-reviving and body-beautifying essentials yet, Hair and Body 4: Spa Edition will turn your ordinary bathtub into a world-class spa! Experience first-class beauty with this Memebox classic, and be beautiful from head to toe!

Take note:

Memebox mentioned in the curator card that this box, the Memebox Special #49 - Hair and Body 4 (Spa Edition) will turn your ordinary bathtub into a world-class spa!

I wonder up to what extent Memebox is capable of delivering? Memebox promised big-time, after all.

Let us take a look!

This box was delivered alongside Memebox Special #47 - My Dessert Box.

Products are arranged according to my preferences:

Milky Dress Pink Lovely Fast Shampoo 200ml $40

This hydrating and repairing hair shampoo contains a blend of transformative ingredients that calms scalp irritation and strengthens hair for a shiny luster. It prevents and slows thinning and loss of hair while treating inflammation on the scalp. Great for all hair types and lengths including processed hair, it is clinically proven to rejuvenate hair.
What is a hair and body box without shampoo?

Memebox knew about that; so, there you have it: a shampoo.

This shampoo was also Memebox's spoiler for this box. I was not too excited about it when it was announced. Only that, I already purchased this box when they revealed the spoiler.

And, I'm not quite familiar with the brand, Milky Dress, but I haven't found my HG shampoo either. I hope this would be it, as it promises to rejuvenate hair as well.

A 200ml shampoo such as this for $40 may be a bit too much, so I expect quite a lot from it.

Swanicoco 100% Natural Peeling Herb Pack 25ml $12

A peeling pack formulated with only 100% natural medicinal herbs. It can be used both on face and body to exfoliate any dead skin cells and skin impurities piled up and to soften and smoothen coarse skin texture all in one.
At first, I thought this product is a new kind of edible.

Uhmmm.. hair and body? Spa?

I'm glad I was wrong because this is a peeling pack. Only that, it's too small, and somebody could mistake it for a pill bottle or something.

I wonder if it's any different from your typical body scrub, which exfoliates skin as well?

Plus, it's so expensive for something soooo tiny!

Is there really anybody out there who would fall prey on this product being so expensive and all?

Mstar Malus Intensive Hair Treatment 30g $15

Enriched with pure apple extracts, ceramide, panthenol, and 40 different kinds of naturally-derived ingredients, the Malus Intensive Hair Treatment delivers rich nutrition and moisture deep into dry, damaged hair, resulting in firmer, glossier hair ends and healthier scalp as well.

Uhm. Another hair product. Another hair treatment product.

Is it just me, or Memebox is obsessed with hair treatment products recently? I've seen them come quite often, and I'm not too sure if majority of the Memeboxers are looking forward to hair treatment products.

I am not. But I don't really mind receiving them once in a while.

This packaging is adorable, by the way.

Nadu Skin Aroma Mini Bathboom 20g $2

Four tablets for each mini pack. Nadu Skin's aroma bath tablets come in fun, romantic colors and is infused with aroma essential oil which help cleanse and de-stress by stimulating blood circulation after a long, stressful day. When dropped in water, it melts instantly leaving a subtle, pleasant scent.
I've been expecting bath tablets from Memebox, to tell you the truth. But, I've been hoping they would include at least 10 tablets. They only managed four.. :(

Four tablets are only worth $2. I consider these as bonus items - being too tiny and inexpensive. They smell great though, but I was expecting a lot more.

Zamian Clean Foot 50ml $36

The ultimate spa foot care which basically looks like a pair of socks that you wear and for the next few days dead skins will gradually peel off from your feet and viola - the softest and smoothest feet you've always longed for!
Seriously, a one-time use foot mask for $36?! Is this a joke?

Is Memebox inflating prices again?

I don't have much to say about this, only that, I would have preferred fullsized products other than this. If it is indeed a $36 mask, it takes away the value from the rest of the products in this box.

I'm a bit disappointed. Since, it's already here, I guess I'll just have to put this to good use.

Dermahouse Stretch Care Cream 180ml

A deeply penetrating cream that helps to prevent and reduce the appearance of new and recent stretch marks. The pitot essential oil complex reinforces the elasticity of the skin to withstand stretching and keep skin supple, well-moisturized and firm.
I can't believe they included a stretch mark cream. It's not even a spa product!

I think this shouldn't be in this box, but I'll use it anyway.

Dermahouse appears to be a regular item in most Memeboxes, much like Hope Girl. It's a decent brand with decent products, but sad to say, just like the Hope Girl, Dermahouse products are wearing me out.

Overall

For the first time in my memeaddiction, I finally encountered a box that doesn't feel like it's worth my money.

I mean, if you'd do the calculations based on the Memebox retail prices, this could total for up to 5x the value you pay for, but somehow, this box feels empty to me. It's not really something that I'm happy about.

This box is boring, and doesn't even come close to the description that it came with! Probably, the most boring of all the Memeboxes I already received to date.

Seriously, I would have been better off if I chose my own products for a 'spa edition'.

Unboxing Post: Memebox Special #49 - Hair and Body 4 (Spa Edition)

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

Among the seven days of the week, which day do you think is your least favorite?

I informally asked this question to a few people in our workplace, and I was not surprised at the results at all. Several answered Wednesday as their least favorite day of the week, mainly because it's inconveniently situated in the middle of the work week.

I know the sentiments very well, because I used to hate Wednesdays, too!

However, nowadays, I simply love Wednesdays!

Why, you ask?

'Cause I established my Wednesdays and Fridays as body scrub days! So, instead of using regular soap and water on these days, I could substitute them with a body scrub of my choice. I set Friday as my ordinary scrub day, while Wednesday is my luxury scrub day.

Now, don't you think it's something to look forward to in the most boring day of the week?

These past Wednesdays of late were extremely pleasurable, thanks to this, The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub:

Bath products, such as body scrubs, are considered beyond my 'ordinary range' if their prices fall on Php 500 and above. This baby, being retailed at Php 1095, is definitely a luxury product for me. Good thing, I got it at a discounted price during The Body Shop's most recent sale sometime in October. So, instead of paying the full price of Php 1095 for the 206g body scrub, I only paid Php 657. That's 40% off!

Thanks to the sale, I finally got to try four of The Body Shop's body scrubs, including this!

Packaging

Obviously, The Body Shop used the typical tub-type packaging for most scrubs. I'm not really a fan of containers such as this, because I worry about hygiene, too. I mean, dipping your fingers on a clean product could possibly contaminate the rest of it.

So, I don't really want to take the risk. This is why, I always make an extra effort to transfer a sufficient amount of product to another container, so that I could dip my fingers in the shower without worrying too much!

Kudos to The Body Shop, because I believe every important information about the product are all over the tub.

Formulation

I know excellent organic body scrubs are rare, but I believe, The Body Shop managed to put it all nicely. The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub supposedly contains raspberry fruit extracts and some raspberry seeds. And by raspberry seeds, they mean real raspberry seeds! The main exfoliating material for this scrub is simply, a bunch of raspberry seeds!

Look!

When you use this, you are literally slathering raspberry all over your body! Talk about luxury!

The fact of the matter is, I enjoyed every bit of it, and if you love the scent of the real raspberries, you gotta love this! It really smells like raspberries! And, it's not overpowering at all. I bet, there's a 0-1% of getting a headache just by smelling this.

Overall, this product's formulation is just great! The scent stays for a few minutes after using it, too.

I am a hundred percent satisfied!

Effectiveness

In my opinion, the best body scrubs are expected to:
  • Improve the condition of the skin  making it smoother and silkier after use
  • Moisturize the skin
  • Exfoliate dead skin cells
I believe The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub managed to meet all of my expectations. Plus, it's extremely refreshing! I'm absolutely happy I tried this!

Rating:

Packaging - 4.50 out of 5.00
Formulation - 5.00 out of 5.00
Effectiveness - 5.00 out of 5.00

Overall - 4.80 out of 5.00

Pros:
  • Smells great
  • Exfoliates well
  • Organic
  • Moisturizing
  • Makes skin smoother and silkier
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Tub-type packaging
Repurchase?

Yes! That is if I have the extra money to do so. Or when there's a sale that I couldn't resist. I must admit that the price tag is just too high for my beauty budget. <insert super sad face here>

Nonetheless, it's a great body scrub, and I recommend it to anyone who would like to lavishly treat their skin with real raspberry goodness.

That's all for today's review.

Enjoy your week, everyone!

Love lots,

Newbee Marie

Review: The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub

Thursday, July 31, 2014

According to numerous sources, pleasant scents and fragrances could effectively reduce stress and provide quite a number of benefits for one's well-being.

I, for one, believe in the benefits of aromatherapy. This new-found love led me to an obsession with aromas, fragrances and scents. I have tried varieties of colognes, perfumes, lotions, oil-fragrances, reed diffusers, and even scented candles. Yes, the list goes on and on and on, but I don't mind. It's like happiness in a little bottle.

This love, though, started somewhere, and for all I know, the product that I'll be reviewing today is one of the few that influenced me to love fragrances in various forms. This is not a new scent; this was released by Bath and Body Works sometime in 2012, but I'll review it anyway.

Everyone, meet the Bath and Body Works Signature Collection Pink Chiffon Body Lotion 8 fl oz/ 236 ml:

Product name: Bath and Body Works Signature Collection Pink Chiffon Body Lotion
Size:  8.00 fl oz or 236ml
Got it as a GIFT from a dear friend
Once a day, preferably before going to sleep
Used by blogger for: 3 months
Price: USD 11.00

Product Description:

Our exclusive Signature Body Lotion formula, fortified with powerful ingredients like super conditioning Shea Butter, fast absorbing Jojoba Oil and protective Vitamin E, hydrates skin with moisture that lasts all day. Our non-greasy formula absorbs quickly and completely to leave skin feeling incredibly soft, smooth and nourished, making it the perfect daily moisturizer.

Smooth over body to moisturize and lightly fragrance skin with our exclusive Pink Chiffon, an ultra-feminine blend of sparkling red pear, vanilla orchid and whipped chiffon musk inspired by the effortless grace and beauty of a master ballerina.

My Experience / Impressions:

When it was given to me, I wasn't really excited on slathering it on my skin. I mean, I don't really like lotions, especially those that don't have SPF. This, unfortunately, doesn't have SPF.

Also, my first sniff was not so memorable then. I initially thought that it's a scent that I won't like. So, I kept this on my shelf for a while, which is obviously a mistake because I ended up liking it  loving it.

I've been using this on my hands before going to sleep.

Read on if you'd like to know more.

Packaging

BBW's packaging is really attractive. Well, as for this, you could probably see that it the container alone looks irresistible. It's made of plastic - but it's not the kind that would feel cheap on your hands. Plus, the cap seals really well.

None of the BBW lotions came with a box, or a complete plastic wrap, in case you're expecting such. Sometimes, the caps would only be sealed by some sort of adhesive, similar to a scotch tape. Sometimes, only the topmost portion of the bottle would be covered by a shrink wrap.

One concern though, I couldn't see signs of the manufacturing date or even the expiry date. As for the batch code, I suspect that it's the code right at the bottom of the container, but I might be wrong.

I don't think the cap will give you any problems. It seals properly and the opening is just perfect.
Formulation

Fragrance

Like I mentioned earlier, I didn't like the scent at first. It smelt overpowering and it was overly floral. However, it became clear to me eventually that it was a mistake to judge a scent from smelling it right from its container. It should be allowed to come in contact with skin, and let its fragrance diffuse before making any judgments.

According to the official Bath and Body Works Website, the Pink Chiffon Body Lotion has the following fragrance notes:

* Top Notes: Sparkling Pear, Peach Nectar, Wild Berries
*Mid Notes: Tiare Flower, Jasmine Petals, Waterlily, Sheer Apple Blossom
*Dry Notes: Coconut Milk, Vanilla Orchid, Creamy Sandalwood, Chiffon Musk

To be honest, I really don't know how some of the notes actually smell, and for one, I recognize some scents on the list, but I couldn't tell for sure if I could smell them on the lotion. I guess, I could only smell some hints of pears and berries, and the rest is a combination of a lot of other notes.

I could also detect some sillage on it, but it's not too overpowering, in my opinion. It's a bit pleasant, actually.

It's definitely an ultra-feminine/floral scent, which could remind you of a young ballerina. I guess, the description really comes close to how I imagine the scent would be. I love the scent because it's not overpowering, and it's really close to a HAPPY scent, which indeed, made my bad days better.

Lotion

Aside from the scent, I don't find anything special about it. It is indeed non-greasy and moisturizes a bit, but it's still the typical lotion - I find it uncomfortable to use during daytime, and it's too warm to use in a humid country such as ours. One thing I appreciate also, is the fact that it doesn't leave a white cast on your skin, like most lotions do.

I opt to use it as a hand cream every night though. I love smelling it on my hands during evenings.

Rating:

Packaging - 4.50 out of 5.00
Scent - 4.00 out of 5.00 (including longevity and sillage)
Formulation - 4.00 out of 5.00 (as a lotion)
Cost Effectiveness - 3.50 out of 5.00

Average Rating: 4.00 out of 5.00

Pros:
  • Very fragrant
  • Moisturizes
  • Non-greasy
  • Easily absorbed by the skin
  • No white cast on skin

Cons:
  • Scent doesn't last too long
  • Warm on the skin
I love this lotion because of its scent. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves floral fragrances.

So sorry for the lengthy post. I hope you now have an idea what the Pink Chiffon could do for you.

Till the next post!

Love lots,

Newbee
